Karachi, August 22, 2022: Reminiscing the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA) in the battle of Karbala, Greenwich University organized Youm-e-Hussain on 22nd August. Greenwich Fraternity came together to learn about the relevance of the Battle of Karbala in Islam and modern times. Renowned scholars including Professor, Islamic Learning Department at Karachi University - Dr. Zaid Ali Zahid, research scholar & literary figure Dr. Alia Imam, Moulana Mohammad Hussain Mehdi, Zakira & Principal Jafaria Trust Ms. Firdous Fatima, Greenwich University Alumni & renowned nauha nigar Absaar Hussain and Greenwich Alumni & notable Qawwal Jawwad Raza graced the event with their presence. Greenwich staff, faculty, and students actively participated in salaam o salaat and nauha renditions. The Vice-Chancellor, Ms. Seema Mughal addressed the audience and highlighted the importance of gathering historical and religious knowledge on the subject. She urged the youth towards inquiry and critical appreciation. Registrar, Saeed Mughal emphasized the importance of understanding the battle from an unbiased perspective as Hussain (RA) is for everyone regardless of caste, creed, nationality, and borders. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of token of recognition to guests of honor, faculty, staff, and students.
