Karachi, July 06, 2023: Mr. Ali Jillani, Vice Chair, Karachi Research Chair of Greenwich University has been selected as the Regional Speaker to represent Asia and the Pacific at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2023 of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Mr. Jillani will speak at the MGoS Official Session on July 14, 2023, featuring the President of the ECOSOC, Chair of the G77 countries, Special Rapporteur on the Right to Development, and Regional Speakers from Africa, Latin America, and Europe, with Ministers and other High Officials from UN Member States and Agencies in the audience. As the Advocacy Group lead of the Asia Pacific Regional CSOs Engagement Mechanism (APRCEM), Mr. Jillani will cover issues like sovereign debt, climate change, and neoliberal policies strangulating countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Philippines, Fiji, Samoa, and Marshal Islands, among others. Ms. Rameen Siddiqui, our exceptionally talented student of Economics, has also made us very proud with her selection as the only Pakistani student to attend the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2023 in New York. As a young leader, she will be representing the Children and Youth Major Group (CYMG) across official sessions on social development, economic growth, and environmental protection. It is a moment of pride for Pakistan in leading the voices from the Asian Pacific region to advance sustainable development outcomes for all.
