Course Overview

This course provides an introduction to concepts, theories, and research in educational psychology. The topics covered include cognitive, social and physical development during the school years, learning theories, instructional approaches, motivation, assessment, and individual differences.

Eligibility Criteria

Individuals with 14 years education, teachers, school admins, principals, and academic coordinators.

Teaching Methodology

A mix of activities including hands on work and practical in individual and group work: Lectures, Assignments, Quiz, Interactive discussion via audio/ video clip, Group collaborations and Case Studies/Research.

Course Objective

The primary objective of the course will be to serve as an introduction to educational psychology that covers the basic concepts, theories, and principles of human development, learning, motivation, individual differences, intelligence, and assessment. Additionally, it will enable students to relate to how these concepts are applied to classroom teaching.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the student will be able to: 1.Demonstrate their understanding of the concept of educational psychology and its implication for educational practices. 2. Apply learning principles to their teaching to help students maximize their learning. 3.Compare various theories of learning and human learning capabilities. 4.Analyse the role of motivation theories and principles in their instructional activities. 5.Understand various concepts of intelligence and apply this understanding in monitoring class performance of their students.
