This course is designed to provide the participants s with a comprehensive understanding of assessment strategies and practices used in education. Students will explore various assessment methods, learn to design effective assessments and understand its role in promoting student learning. It will also introduce the key approaches and problems in implementing classroom-based assessments, including the implications for the role of the teacher, the nature of effective feedback, involving students in self and peer assessment.
Individuals with 14 years education, teachers, school admins, principals, and academic coordinators.
A mix of activities including hands on work and practical in individual and group work: Lectures, Assignments, Quiz, Interactive discussion via audio/ video clip, Group collaborations and Case Studies/Research.
The objectives of this course will be to examine the purpose, paradigms, and types of assessments and evaluations used in education. It will explore the role of teachers in directing learning, providing feedback to students, constructing feedback strategies to enhance the delivery of instructions, and to ensure that the objectives and standards are achieved.
Understand and appreciate the role of test, measurement, assessment and evaluation in education. 1) Evaluate and critique the types of assessments and their importance in learning. 2) Develop assessments that are valid, reliable, and appropriate for instructional decisions. 3) Utilize various forms of assessments in learning contexts, and evaluate the appropriateness of rubrics, standards, benchmarks, and cut-off scores. 4) Understand and apply the forms of feedback, diagnostics and remediation.
